The Emperor’s New Clothes

Through their own words they will be exposed.

What we are experiencing at the moment is beyond comprehension. Thousands of children are paying the price of the older generations ignorance and stupidity. Yes I wrote stupidity and remind you of what kind of stupidity we see in the world today. In the fairytale The Emperor’s New Clothes by H.C. Andersen, the story goes that a very vain emperor wanted some special clothes. The Emperor was flattered by some fraudsters presented themselves as magnificent tailors. Long story short the tailors convinced the Emperor looks marvellous in the clothes that they could create. Turns out that the invisible clothes the Emperor “had on” was no clothes at all, and it took a child to point out that the Emperor was naked. What the core message of this fairytale is that a lot of people are deducted by vanity, pride and conformity. It was an innocent child that pointed out the truth about the clothes, because of peoples fear of appearing foolish they rather tell a lie than speak  the truth to keep their positions. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Look at the global political charade – I feel and urge to roar “Is there any adult present?”, but I know that it will make no sense to people that lie to themselves. What we are experiencing now on a global scale is so to speak the last part of the fairytale in The Emperor’s New Clothes were the innocent child tells the truth, and some people are waking up from their illusions,  deceptions, social hypocrisy and collective denial. At the moment “we hold our breath” and listens to the silence after the innocent child’s devastating truth – The Emperor is naked!  In Sinead O’Connor’s words in her song The Emperor’s New Clothes; Through their own words they will be exposed. They’ve got a severe case of  The Emperors New Clothes. Who are “they” you might ask – I for sure interpret it as politicians etc on a global scale and the people who just obey and  have no moral scruples in executing orders that only work for the politicians, but not for the people.

Truth and facts are not the same

Some of the people that just follow orders are sadly enough as I see it,  people we normally trust are talking about “truth” – e.g. the science and journalism. We think that scientist talks about evidence, facts and…..truth? I know for sure that science works with evidence and facts, but are science talking about truth? No, truth is on a completely other metaphysical level, and somehow most people misunderstand that truth is the same as facts. Facts and evidence are concepts of scientific approach to e.g. physical experiments, but as we already know scientific facts evolve over time. Now we know about Quantum Physics some hundred years ago it was Isaac Newtons Universal Laws. In fact it turns out these days that some of the scientists live their lives as Johan Wolfgang Goethe wrote in his work Faust. Faust is a disillusioned scientist that sells his soul to the devil to get power. In a way Faust represents the Collective Identity Crisis the world on a global scale is in now in so may ways. If you want to look more into this I recommend you to read “Faust” by Goethe, and if you’re into metaphysics as I am you can dive deeper reading Rudolf Steiner’s interpretation of “Faust”. Some scientist  do navigate according to  human nature and dignity, but they have a lot of difficulty in getting their message out to people. The reason is, as I see it, that some of the journalist who works on mainstream media companies has to follow order by authorities in a selective way to inform people. They have to go by the trend clickbait and out goes the moral compass in informing people. If you don’t know anything about clickbait I recommend you watch the documentary “Starsuckers” on you tube.

AI interpretation of  The Republic and The Defence Speech of Socrates is biased

You might know about Socrates and Platon as the student of Socrates, and you might know about the criticism of democracy that Platon wrote about in his work The Republic. I think I read The Republic in the 80s before the internet and before AI. As a philosopher it is natural to dive really deep into every philosophical text and be critical of the content, so I’ve had the pleasure to read most of the dialogues of Platon e.g. The Defence Speech of Socrates. In this dialogues Socrates speaks about a corruptive democracy  where people in power (oligarchy) only work for their own interests. Somehow if you google Platon and Socrates today  I notice that the google and AI interpretation of  The Republic and The Defence Speech of Socrates is biased. I guess that it comes to no surprise, because we all interpret the world around us and thereby also the message of Platon. The reason why I mention it here is to tell you – that in a way AI is also an “Emperor” with New Clothes. Of course it is just an advanced machine people see as an “authority”, but as I said before in my blog posts – you have to be critical. I challenge you to dive deep into Google, AI, Mainstream News etc and see if you can find a pattern in the biased information. Why is this so interesting – well let me tell you something about Stanley Milgram’s series of studies on obedience to authority figures. How far would people go in obeying orders, although these orders conflicted with their own values? I told you before in another blogpost and I tell you again – Milgram’s studies show that a majority would obey orders although these orders conflicted with their personal values. My interpretation of The Defence Speech of Socrates is that we – as people – have to be aware and critical to what authorities want the people to do. As in ancient Greece we see the consequences for humanity when individuals don’t listen to their inner voice. Everyone can see that if thousands of children are paying the price of the older generations ignorance, egoism and stupidity something is very wrong with the system when ordinary people will obey to unjust orders. If you want to understand the psychology behind what I write about here I recommend you read about The Milgram Experiment in his work Obedience to Authority.
